NCBA Group Commits KES 13 Million to 177 Students on Scholarships
NCBA Group has committed over KES 13 million to support 177 students through nine partner organisations, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive education, and innovation-driven growth.
The scholarship initiative forms part of the Group’s broader sustainability agenda, under which NCBA has pledged to deploy KES 100 million annually to support communities across the region.
Furthermore, the funding prioritises education, mentorship, and skills development for young people and women, positioning education as a catalyst for long-term socio-economic transformation.
Innovation at the Heart of the Handover Ceremony
The selection of Museum of Illusions Nairobi as the venue for the annual cheque handover ceremony reflects a deliberate focus on innovation, critical thinking, and future-ready leadership.
Designed to challenge perception and spark imagination, the museum mirrors the essence of education, expanding perspectives and inspiring new possibilities. The choice of venue underscored NCBA’s focus on nurturing agile, future-ready leaders equipped to thrive in a technology-driven world.
Education as a Pillar of Citizenship
Speaking at the event, NCBA Group Chairman James Ndegwa described education as a cornerstone of the Group’s Citizenship agenda and a driver of resilient communities.
“Scaling belief by investing in our youth is not simply a call to action; it is a necessity for our nation’s continued growth and prosperity,” he said. “Our world is calling out for leaders, leaders with intelligence, yes, but also with compassion, vision, and a fierce dedication to making a difference.”
Partnership to Advance Inclusive Education
During the ceremony, NCBA announced a new partnership with the Crystal Asige Foundation, founded by Senator Crystal Asige.

The collaboration will support learners facing compounded challenges, including disability, chronic medical conditions, and financial vulnerability. The partnership will deliver structured education support directly to institutions, strengthening accountability while promoting inclusive access for learners often left behind.
Building Resilience Through Education
NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora emphasised that investing in education goes beyond financial support.
“When we invest in education, we are not just paying fees; we are building resilience and nurturing innovation. We are creating communities that are equipped to solve problems and imagine new possibilities. We are not just a banking group; we are an Ubuntu,” he said.
Additionally, he said that NCBA’s people-centred philosophy reflects a shared-growth model where institutions and communities thrive together.
Ubuntu in Action
The scholarship programme reflects NCBA’s Ubuntu belief, a collective approach grounded in the idea that progress is achieved together. The initiative supports students facing financial, medical, and social barriers that threaten education continuity, reinforcing the Group’s conviction that access to education should not be limited by circumstance.
One of the student beneficiaries expressed gratitude, saying the support had lifted a significant burden from their family and allowed them to focus fully on their studies.
Through its Citizenship and Sustainability initiatives, NCBA continues to position itself as a purpose-led financial institution committed to empowering youth, strengthening education ecosystems, and driving innovation and shared prosperity across the region.
