The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has surpassed the KES 1 trillion revenue collection mark, raising KES 1.010 trillion by the end of October 2026, a month earlier than in previous financial years.
The milestone comes after the Authority collected KES 260.630 billion in October against a target of KES 258.304 billion, representing 100.9 per cent performance and a surplus of KES 2.327 billion.
The October collections recorded a 15.5 per cent growth, compared to 8.0 per cent in October 2025 and 6.5 per cent in October 2024. KRA attributed the performance to strong contributions from both Customs and Domestic Revenue.
Customs revenue reached a historic monthly high of KES 94.793 billion, surpassing its target by KES 1.009 billion and recording 11.3 per cent growth. The performance was largely driven by non-oil taxes, which registered 26 per cent growth.
Domestic revenue collection stood at KES 165.447 billion against a target of KES 164.110 billion, representing a surplus of KES 1.337 billion and growth of 18.1 per cent.
Corporation Tax recorded 31.6 per cent growth, collecting KES 23.932 billion, while Domestic VAT rose by 22.1 per cent to KES 33.367 billion.
Domestic Excise Duty also exceeded its target for the first time in a prolonged period, recording a surplus of KES 945 million and growth of 54.1 per cent.
KRA targets to collect KES 3.268 trillion by the end of the 2026/2027 financial year, as it seeks to sustain revenue growth and support the government’s economic development agenda.
