KRA Issues Final Call to Taxpayers as 2025 Returns Deadline Approaches

1 Mins read

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has urged taxpayers with Income Tax obligations who are yet to submit their 2025 Income Tax Returns to do so immediately, warning that the June 30, 2026 deadline will not be extended.

KRA said all taxpayers must file their returns by midnight on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in accordance with the law. Those who fail to meet the deadline will face applicable penalties and may be subjected to default assessments.

The Authority expressed appreciation to millions of taxpayers who have already complied with the filing requirement, while encouraging those who are yet to submit their returns not to wait until the final hours.

“Filing your tax return is more than a legal obligation; it is a contribution to national development. Every return filed supports transparency, strengthens the tax system, and helps the Government finance essential public services that benefit all Kenyans,” KRA said.

To make the filing process easier, the tax agency has provided several platforms through which taxpayers can submit their returns. These include the iTax portal, eCitizen platform, and USSD service 2225#. Taxpayers can also access assistance through KRA’s WhatsApp support line on 0711 099 999.

KRA has further extended working hours across its customer support channels, including the Contact Centre, social media platforms, Huduma Centres, KRA Service Centres, and Ushuru Mashinani Service Partners across the country.

Taxpayers experiencing challenges while filing their returns can seek assistance through the KRA Contact Centre by calling 020 4 999 999 or 0711 099 999, emailing callcentre@kra.go.ke, engaging through social media platforms @KRACare and @KRACorporate, or visiting the nearest KRA office.

The Authority cautioned taxpayers against last-minute filing, noting that increased traffic on digital platforms could result in delays. It encouraged early submission to allow enough time to resolve any issues and ensure compliance before the deadline.

KRA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting taxpayers throughout the filing period and urged Kenyans to embrace tax compliance as a key contribution towards building a stronger economy and supporting national development.
