For many Kenyans, access to digital technology has become a gateway to education, business growth, financial independence, and better opportunities. Airtel Kenya is playing a pivotal role in this transformation by expanding connectivity, strengthening
digital access, and supporting initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods across communities.
Through its telecommunications services, mobile money platform, and social impact programmes of the Airtel Africa Foundation, the company is helping individuals, businesses, schools, and institutions participate in Kenya’s digital economy.
Bringing Education Closer Through Technology
Education remains one of the key areas where Airtel Kenya’s community initiatives are creating impact. Through a partnership with UNICEF, Airtel has supported digital learning by connecting schools to the internet and enabling learners and teachers to
access online resources.

Transforming learning environments across Africa
Across Africa, the partnership has connected 3,296 schools, reaching more than 2.1
million learners during the 2025/26 period and supporting the training of over 38,800
teachers on the use of digital learning tools.
In Kenya, Airtel has partnered with ATC Kenya to provide internet connectivity to 50 primary schools and supported the Free Internet for Schools Programme in Kisumu in collaboration with Computers for Schools Kenya and the county government.
The company has also partnered with ChildFund Kenya to support inclusive education for more than 2,000 learners in Baringo, Wajir, and Garissa counties. The programme focuses on creating safer and more accessible learning environments for children with
visual and hearing impairments.
Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Financial Inclusion
For small business owners, digital financial services have become an important tool for growth. Airtel Money continues to support millions of Kenyans by providing convenient and secure ways to send money, make payments, save, and manage business
transactions. Entrepreneurs such as Lucie Saulinah Omondi, who runs a peanut butter factory and water purification business in Kibera, rely on digital payments to manage daily operations and serve customers more efficiently.

Airtel Money is helping small businesses participate more effectively in the digital economy.
By reducing dependence on cash and expanding access to financial solutions, Airtel Money is helping small businesses participate more effectively in the digital economy. Furthermore, Airtel Kenya is also empowering women and girls through the Girls4Girls
mentorship programme, which connects senior women leaders with early-career professionals to strengthen leadership skills and confidence. Since its launch in 2023/24, the initiative has supported 31 young women professionals in building their
careers and leadership capabilities.
Creating Pathways for Young Professionals
With youth unemployment remaining a major challenge, Airtel Kenya has invested in programmes designed to prepare young graduates for the workplace. In 2025/26, the company launched a structured internship programme that provided 169
graduates with professional training, mentorship, and practical workplace experience
across different business functions.

Creating Pathways for Young Professionals
The programme offered young professionals exposure to real business projects, helping them develop technical and leadership skills. As a result, 62% of interns who completed the programme secured permanent roles or graduate trainee opportunities.
Airtel Kenya Managing Director Ashish Malhotra said the initiative aims to equip graduates with practical skills, create employment pathways, and support long-term economic growth.
