Samsung’s Fan Edition smartphone series has become a popular choice for users who want flagship-style features without spending too much money. With the launch of the Galaxy S26 FE, the company has introduced several improvements that set it apart from last year’s Galaxy S25 FE. From a refreshed design and a faster processor to enhanced artificial intelligence features, the newer phone offers plenty for customers considering an upgrade.
Beyond its glossy finish and striking colours, the Galaxy S26 FE introduces a range of upgrades aimed at improving performance, photography and everyday productivity.
A Fresh Design with a Premium Feel
The Galaxy S25 FE came with a subtle matte finish, giving it a simple and understated appearance. The S26 FE, on the other hand, adopts a glossy finish alongside fresh colour options, including Pistachio and Blueberry. The new design gives the phone a more vibrant appearance and a distinctive look for users who prefer a statement-making device.
Both smartphones feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection and an IP68 rating against water and dust. These features offer additional durability during everyday use, making the phones suitable for customers looking for a device that combines style with protection.
Faster Performance with the Exynos 2500
The Galaxy S25 FE uses the 4nm Exynos 2400 processor, which is capable of handling everyday activities such as social media browsing, streaming and casual gaming. The newer S26 FE moves to the 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, delivering a reported 30 per cent improvement in CPU and GPU performance, alongside a 40 per cent increase in NPU performance. These upgrades are designed to improve multitasking, gaming and artificial intelligence-related tasks.
For users who spend considerable time playing demanding games, editing content or running several applications at once, the more powerful processor could provide a smoother experience. The improved chip efficiency is also expected to support better thermal management during intensive use.
Galaxy AI Gets New Features
Samsung has also expanded its artificial intelligence capabilities on the Galaxy S26 FE. The phone comes with Android 17 and One UI 9, introducing updated Galaxy AI tools such as My FanCam, Now Nudge and automated subject tracking for video recording. The Galaxy S25 FE already offered features such as Generative Edit and Circle to Search.
However, the S26 FE builds on the AI experience with improvements to on-device processing, allowing tasks such as photo editing, voice transcription and AI-powered suggestions to feel more responsive.
The newer model also comes with a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, giving users access to additional premium generative AI tools. This offer could appeal to customers who use their phones for creative work, productivity and digital content creation.
Camera and Battery Improvements
Both smartphones feature a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The Galaxy S26 FE, however, introduces an improved Image Signal Processor (ISP), which is intended to deliver clearer low-light images, better dynamic range and improved video stabilisation. Its Super Steady Horizon Lock feature also supports video recording by helping maintain stability and orientation.
Battery capacity remains at 4,900mAh, with 45W fast charging available on both devices. Despite the similar battery capacity, the S26 FE’s newer processor is expected to improve efficiency, potentially allowing users to enjoy longer battery life. Actual battery performance will depend on usage habits, network conditions and device settings.
For users moving from an older smartphone such as the Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy S26 FE offers several reasons to consider an upgrade. Its updated processor, expanded AI features, refreshed design and camera improvements make it an attractive option for customers seeking newer technology.
Current Galaxy S25 FE owners, however, may not need to rush into upgrading if their existing phones continue to meet their needs. The decision will depend on whether the performance improvements, new software features and design changes justify the additional cost. Ultimately, the choice between the two smartphones comes down to personal preferences, budget and the features each customer values most.
