Ziidi Investment Recognised with the 2026 GLOMO Award

Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) Ziidi Money Market Fund was awarded the Best Fintech and Digital Commerce Innovation Award at the 2026 Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO), which took place during the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The prestigious awards, which were chosen from a global shortlist of 5 finalists, recognised those solutions that are redefining digital financial services and commerce.

According to Safaricom, Ziidi Investment Platform was recognised for its role in broadening investment opportunities through the use of mobile technology, thereby enabling more Kenyans to save and participate in capital markets in a simple, secure and convenient way.

“This recognition worldwide is a great moment for Safaricom and for Kenya. Ziidi is a manifestation of how we use technology to create financially meaningful opportunities for our customers.

“At the same time as we celebrate the 19th anniversary of M-Pesa, this achievement highlights our evolution from simply enabling money transfers to offering a full, fledged digital financial ecosystem that also supports savings, credit payments and investments, ” explained Stephen Chege, Chief Corporate and External Affairs, Safaricom Plc.

The Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards represent the highest honour in the mobile industry and are the awards given at MWC Barcelona. They reward the most innovative digital and mobile solutions worldwide. Safaricom has a history of winning GLOMO awards, including being recognised previously.

Safaricom pointed out that its partnership with Huawei has played a key role in helping it implement its Fintech 2. 0 strategy, which is digitising the infrastructure and increasing the range of financial services.

Huawei’s next-generation technology rails make real-time transaction processing possible, enhance security systems, and enable the fast introduction of new financial products. Thanks to this partnership, Safaricom has been able to scale innovative financial solutions in accordance with the Ziidi Investment Platform and also bring them to a larger number of people.

The international recognition arrives just as M, PESA celebrates 19 years since it first came out, and the highlight of this celebration is its transformation from a mobile money transfer service to a full-fledged digital financial platform.

The company believes that it will continue to invest in innovation in pursuing its goal of being Africa’s top purpose-led technology company by 2030 and, along the way, continue to increase digital financial inclusion and help individuals and businesses fully engage in the digital economy.

Starting as a money transfer service, the offering has, over the years, included payments, savings, credit and now even investment opportunities.
