David Wakhu Wins PGK Equator Tour’s Seventh Leg at Sigona

Professional golfer David Wakhu has clinched the seventh leg of the PGK Equator Tour at Sigona Golf Club after an impressive four-round performance that saw him finish 15 under par.

Wakhu, playing for Golf Park, carded 273 to beat a field of 47 professionals and secure his second victory of the tour after winning at Ruiru.

The victory has lifted Wakhu to third position in the PGK Equator Tour Order of Merit standings with 3,110 points, putting him firmly in contention for valuable ranking points as the season progresses.

Veteran golfer Dismas Indiza finished second with a four-round total of 277, 11 under par, while Safaricom-sponsored Samuel Njoroge and Greg Snow shared third place after carding 285, three under par.

Njoroge remains at the top of the Order of Merit standings with 4,327 points, followed by Indiza with 3,490 points. Snow occupies fourth position with 3,015 points.

“I am very happy to take another win home after my victory at Ruiru. This victory gives me a lot of confidence as we head into the remaining legs of the tour,” Wakhu said.

“I have put a lot of work into my game, and I am glad it has paid off. I want to thank my team and everyone who has supported me. I hope to maintain this momentum for the rest of the season,” he added.

Njoroge Kibugu finished fifth on 289, followed by Isaiah Otuke on 291. PGK’s first professional female golfer, Naom Wafula, tied with Malik Taimur for seventh place on 292.

Daniel Nduva finished ninth on 293, while Mike Kisia finished in the top 10 with a 294.

The tour now moves to its eighth leg at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort in two weeks, with players continuing their pursuit of crucial Order of Merit points.

The PGK Equator Tour provides professional golfers with a competitive platform to improve their rankings and pursue qualification opportunities for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Olympic Games.
