Safaricom Foundation has launched phase eight of its Ndoto Zetu initiative, committing KSh100 million to support community-led projects in health, education and economic empowerment across Kenya’s 47 counties.
The latest phase brings the Foundation’s total investment in Ndoto Zetu to KSh700 million since the initiative was launched in 2019, strengthening its efforts to support projects designed to address local challenges and improve livelihoods.
A key feature of Phase 8 is the opportunity for previous applicants whose proposals were not funded to have their projects reconsidered. The Foundation will review past applications and identify proposals with the potential to deliver significant and lasting impact in communities.
“With Ndoto Zetu, we are inspired by everyday Kenyans who dare to dream not just for themselves, but for their communities,” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of Safaricom Foundation.
“As we move into the eighth phase, we are giving Kenyans who have long wanted to create positive change in their communities another opportunity to make their dreams a reality,” he added.
Since its inception, Ndoto Zetu has supported more than 2,300 community projects, directly benefiting over 7.1 million people across all 47 counties.
The initiative has focused on empowering communities to identify their most pressing needs and develop solutions that can create sustainable change in areas such as healthcare, education and livelihoods.
In Phase 7, the Foundation approved 301 projects, which collectively benefited more than 1.9 million Kenyans.
The launch of Phase 8 underscores Safaricom Foundation’s continued approach of working directly with communities to support locally driven solutions and expand access to opportunities that can improve people’s lives.
Through Ndoto Zetu, the Foundation continues to position community participation at the centre of its social investment efforts, supporting Kenyans whose ideas have the potential to create meaningful and lasting impact.
