TotalEnergies Kenya Launches New Generation Card for Mobility Payments

2 Mins read

TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya has launched the New Generation TotalEnergies Card, a mobility and payment solution aimed at giving businesses, fleet managers and individual motorists greater control, security and visibility over mobility-related expenses.

The new solution builds on more than 25 years of the TotalEnergies Card in Kenya, which was initially introduced as the Bon Voyage Fuel Card. The card was the first fuel card in Kenya and among the earliest to incorporate chip technology to strengthen transaction security.

Over the years, the product has evolved from a fuel payment card into a broader mobility solution designed to meet changing customer needs.

Digital Tools for Greater Expense Control

The New Generation TotalEnergies Card combines digital payments, real-time transaction monitoring and enhanced expense management features.

According to TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Managing Director Thibault Flichy, businesses are increasingly looking for digital tools that can provide greater oversight of fuel expenditure while improving operational efficiency.

“Businesses today need greater visibility and control over their fuel expenditure than traditional payment methods can provide,” said Flichy.

He added that the new card brings together secure digital payments, transaction monitoring and simplified tax compliance to help businesses make better decisions around one of their significant operating expenses.

Mobile and Cardless Payment Options

The solution introduces two digital payment options designed to reduce reliance on physical cards.

Customers can use the Mobility Pay mobile application, while a virtual card with a one-time password (OTP) option is available for phones without internet connectivity.

The platform also provides real-time SMS and email alerts for transactions and anomalies, enabling customers and fleet managers to monitor activity as it happens.

An advanced customer portal provides real-time account visibility, transaction monitoring and controls for setting spending limits.

Enhanced Security and Fleet Management

The New Generation TotalEnergies Card incorporates several security features, including PIN-protected transactions, RFID vehicle tags and OTP authentication for the mobile application and virtual card.

A pre-authorisation mode is also available to support more controlled and accurate fuel dispensing at TotalEnergies stations.

For businesses, the platform provides compliant invoicing, helping simplify tax-related documentation and expense management.

The card is accepted across the TotalEnergies station network in Kenya for eligible products and services, giving customers access to a broad network while managing their mobility payments through one system.

Accessible to Businesses and Individual Motorists

TotalEnergies says customers adopting the mobile application or virtual card can benefit from a more flexible digital payment experience while reducing their dependence on physical plastic cards.

The New Generation TotalEnergies Card is available to businesses, fleet operators and individual motorists. Customers can apply through the TotalEnergies Kenya website, while matatu and boda boda operators can also apply at TotalEnergies service stations countrywide.

The company says the new solution reflects its continued investment in technology-driven mobility services aimed at making payments more secure, convenient and easier to monitor for Kenyan motorists and businesses.
