SGA Security has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development through its sponsorship of car number 7 during the 37th edition of the Rhino Charge, one of Kenya’s premier conservation fundraising events.
The sponsorship underscores the company’s continued investment in environmental sustainability initiatives aimed at promoting climate resilience, protecting critical ecosystems and improving community livelihoods.
Supporting Conservation and Climate Resilience
Speaking on the partnership, SGA Security Chairman and CEO Jules Delahaije said sustainability remains a core pillar of the company’s corporate responsibility agenda.
“Sustainability is embedded in how we define our role as responsible corporate citizens. Our continued support to Rhino Charge reflects our commitment to conservation efforts that deliver long-term environmental and community impact,” said Delahaije.
The annual Rhino Charge, organised to support the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, raises funds for the protection of Kenya’s vital water towers and forest ecosystems. These include Mt. Kenya, the Aberdare Range, Mt. Eburu, the Southwestern Mau Forest and Kakamega Forest.
Protecting Biodiversity and Communities
Funds raised through Rhino Charge have over the years supported the construction of electric fences around key conservation areas. The fences help reduce human-wildlife conflict, safeguard biodiversity and enhance coexistence between local communities and wildlife.
The initiative has become a critical conservation financing mechanism, helping preserve some of Kenya’s most important ecological resources while supporting sustainable livelihoods for communities living near protected areas.
Sustainability at the Core of SGA’s CSR Strategy
Environmental conservation forms one of the five pillars of SGA Security’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. The other focus areas include health and safety, security, education and sports.
Through these pillars, the company seeks to create lasting social and environmental impact while supporting national development priorities.
The Rhino Charge sponsorship aligns with the company’s broader environmental agenda, which emphasises responsible business practices and long-term sustainability.
International Recognition for Responsible Business Practices
SGA Security’s sustainability efforts have also received international recognition. Earlier this year, the company was awarded by the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA), acknowledging its commitment to responsible security operations, human rights compliance and ethical business conduct.
The recognition highlights SGA Security’s efforts to uphold global standards while integrating sustainability and accountability into its operations.
Strengthening Private Sector Role in Conservation
Through its continued participation in Rhino Charge, SGA Security is reinforcing the growing role of the private sector in supporting conservation financing and advancing Kenya’s environmental sustainability goals.
As climate and environmental challenges continue to intensify, partnerships between businesses, conservation organisations and communities are increasingly seen as critical to protecting natural ecosystems and ensuring sustainable development for future generations.
