NCBA Targets 40,000 Kenyan's Schools with Tailored Banking Solutions

NCBA Bank has unveiled an expanded education sector proposition targeting Kenya’s more than 40,000 public schools with financing, transaction banking and digital solutions designed to support institutions, teachers, parents and students.

The bank said the comprehensive offering is aimed at addressing the changing financial needs of educational institutions as schools expand, modernise their operations and invest in infrastructure and technology.

The solutions include school fees collection platforms, payments and cash management services, working capital facilities, infrastructure development financing, asset and vehicle financing, trade finance, digital banking and investment products.

According to NCBA, the solutions will enable schools to streamline fee collection, improve cash flow management, finance expansion projects and acquire equipment and other assets required to support quality learning.

The bank’s education sector strategy also places emphasis on teachers, recognising their role in developing Kenya’s future workforce.

Through its Workplace Banking proposition, NCBA offers educators salary accounts with early salary processing, salary advances, unsecured personal loans with extended repayment periods, mortgage financing, asset finance, digital banking and mobile lending services.

The proposition is designed to give teachers easier access to credit, flexible financing and opportunities for home ownership and long-term wealth creation.

“Education is a cornerstone of national development, and teachers are at the heart of that transformation. At NCBA, our commitment extends beyond sponsorships and events. We have developed tailored financial solutions that support schools in their growth journeys while empowering teachers to achieve their personal and professional ambitions,” said Dennis Njau, Group Director, Retail Banking.

NCBA said its support extends beyond schools and teachers to parents and students through savings, investment and financing solutions intended to help families plan for education expenses and secure their children’s futures.

The bank’s expanded education proposition comes as institutions increasingly seek financial partners capable of supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term development.

Schools require funding for infrastructure projects, vehicles, equipment and technology, while also managing recurring expenses such as salaries, suppliers and other operational costs. NCBA said its integrated approach is intended to address these needs through a single banking proposition.

The lender’s commitment to education was further demonstrated through its role as Title Sponsor of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day Gala Dinner hosted by International Schools in Kenya (ISK).

The event brought together educators, school leaders, policymakers and industry stakeholders to celebrate the teaching profession and recognise the contribution of teachers to society and national development.

NCBA said the sponsorship reflects its belief that education is a key driver of economic growth, social mobility and national prosperity.

“The education sector represents one of the most impactful areas for sustainable economic development. As schools continue to expand, digitise and invest in modern learning environments, and as teachers seek greater financial empowerment, there is a growing need for specialised banking solutions,” Njau said.

He added that NCBA is positioned to support the education ecosystem through tailored financing, transaction banking and workplace banking solutions that enable institutions and educators to thrive.

The education sector forms part of NCBA’s Change the Story Agenda, through which the bank partners with communities to drive social and sustainable impact.

Through its support for learning institutions and teachers, NCBA said it aims to contribute to improved access to quality education while strengthening financial wellness and creating opportunities for communities.

The bank’s education strategy is anchored on its purpose of Banking on Belief, Empowering Ambition, with the lender positioning education as an important avenue for creating opportunities and supporting long-term economic development.

NCBA said its continued engagement with the education sector will focus on supporting institutions as they adapt to changing learning environments while equipping teachers with financial tools to achieve their personal and professional ambitions.
