Naivas Launches ‘Naivas Kikwetu’ as It Marks 35 Years with Grand Nakuru Homecoming

1 Mins read

Naivas Supermarkets, Kenya’s leading retail chain, celebrated the culmination of its 35th anniversary journey with a grand homecoming event at the Sarova Woodlands Lawns in Nakuru, the birthplace of the iconic brand.

The celebration followed a symbolic heritage caravan from Nairobi to Nakuru, marking an emotional return to the retailer’s roots. Thousands of customers gathered at the Sarova Lawns for a day of festivities featuring live entertainment, interactive brand booths, shopping offers, and giveaways.

Naivas leadership also toured all four Nakuru outlets, surprising shoppers with gift vouchers and appreciation messages. Later, an exclusive luncheon brought together suppliers, partners, and special guests, where outgoing CEO David Kimani was honored as the “Naivas Shepherd” for his visionary leadership and contribution to the company’s growth.

“This homecoming has been a reminder of where our story began and why it continues to thrive. Nakuru will always be at the heart of Naivas — it is where our values were born, and where our next chapter begins,” said Andres Von Paleske, the new Naivas CEO.

Outgoing CEO David Kimani reflected on the brand’s journey, saying, “The Naivas story is one of family, perseverance, and shared progress. This celebration belongs to every Kenyan who has believed in us and grown with us.”

Tropical Heat CEO Sawan Shah lauded Naivas for fostering meaningful partnerships, noting that the celebration “demonstrates their commitment to growth that benefits everyone involved.”

The event also marked the official launch of Naivas’ 2025 Festive Campaign, “Naivas Kikwetu”, a nationwide initiative celebrating the Kenyan spirit of togetherness, tradition, and shared joy. The campaign will roll out across all Naivas branches and major media channels throughout the festive season.

Naivas reaffirmed its brand promise: “To make your everyday shopping experience memorable, rewarding, and proudly Kenyan.”
