Nairobi Roads to Face Temporary Closure During African Forward Summit 2026

The National Police Service has announced temporary traffic disruptions across major roads in Nairobi ahead of the African Forward Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from May 10 to May 12, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, the police said the measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and facilitating the smooth management of the high-level summit expected to attract delegates from across the region and beyond.

Motorists and members of the public have been advised to expect traffic interruptions along key routes, including Mombasa Road, Langata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, and Kiambu Road, as well as within the Nairobi Central Business District.

The police further announced that beginning midnight on Monday, May 11, 2026, several roads surrounding the Kenyatta International Convention Centre will be closed to all traffic except vehicles authorised to access the conference venue.

The affected roads include:

City Hall Way

Parliament Road

Harambee Avenue

Taifa Road

According to the NPS, the closures are part of enhanced security and traffic management arrangements being implemented in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

The National Police Service urged motorists to remain patient, cooperate with officers deployed along the affected routes, and strictly adhere to all traffic regulations and directions issued during the period.

Authorities also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals found violating traffic rules during the summit period.
