NCBA Group continued its 2026 Golf Series with an exciting ninth leg at Sigona Golf Club, where Akshay Chandaria and Rachel Ndei emerged as the overall winners after a highly competitive weekend tournament featuring more than 260 golfers.
The event attracted strong participation from amateur and junior golfers, with top performers earning qualification for the season-ending Grand Finale set for November 28, 2026, at Karen Country Club.
Chandaria claims the Overall Gross Men title
Playing off handicap one, Akshay Chandaria delivered an impressive round of 76 gross to clinch the Overall Gross Men Winner title, beating a strong field of low handicap contenders.
His composed performance secured him top honours and a place in the Grand Finale, where qualifiers from across the season will compete for ultimate glory.
Adam Tayebjee finished as the men’s runner-up after returning 77 gross, while M.N. Njoroge also posted 77 gross but settled for third place after countback.
Rachel Ndei tops ladies’ category
In the ladies’ division, Rachel Ndei carded 90 gross to emerge as the Overall Gross Lady Winner, narrowly edging out her closest challengers in a tightly contested field.
Jane Njau finished as Gross Lady Runner-Up with 91 gross, missing the top prize by a single stroke but also earning recognition for her strong performance.
Ndei’s victory secured her qualification for the Grand Finale later this year.
Strong performances in handicap divisions
The handicap divisions also delivered strong performances, with G.S. Phull winning the Division Two Men title after returning 39 points.
Vivian Kosgei claimed the Division Two Lady prize with 32 points, while Joy Bhatt topped Division Three after posting 37 points.
In the junior category, Hetansh Shah impressed with 80 gross to emerge winner, highlighting the growing strength of junior golf talent within the NCBA Golf Series.
NCBA reaffirms support for golf development
Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Rose Mburu, NCBA ABC Place Branch Manager, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting golf development across all levels in Kenya.
“We are delighted to witness another successful and highly competitive leg of the NCBA Golf Series here at Sigona Golf Club. The quality of play today reflects the continued growth of golf in Kenya,” she said.
Mburu added that the tournament continues to provide an inclusive platform that brings together golfers, strengthens club communities, and supports talent development across the country.
Grand Finale qualifiers confirmed
Following the Sigona leg, the latest qualifiers for the Grand Finale include Akshay Chandaria, Rachel Ndei, Adam Tayebjee, Jane Njau, M.N. Njoroge, Duncan Sifuna, and junior winner Hetansh Shah.
They now join other qualifiers from previous legs as preparations begin for the season-ending showdown at Karen Country Club in November.
