The outreach programme, organised by the company’s Mombasa Plant, aims to improve access to quality healthcare while encouraging preventive health practices among communities living near Bamburi Cement’s operations.
A wide range of free health services
Residents attending the medical camp received free medical consultations and treatment, alongside specialised services including screening for breast, cervical and prostate cancers.
The outreach also offered eye and ear clinics, well-baby services, family planning, tuberculosis (TB) and HIV screening, dermatology consultations, and a blood donation drive.
The comprehensive package of services was designed to improve early disease detection and enhance access to healthcare for vulnerable members of the community.
Partnership strengthens healthcare delivery
The medical camp was implemented through a partnership between Bamburi Cement and the Kwale County Public Health Department, Kenya Navy, Equity Afia Hospital, Kenya Red Cross and Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital.
The collaboration brought together expertise from both public and private sector institutions to provide integrated healthcare services to residents.
A Bamburi Cement representative said the initiative reflects the company’s continued investment in the health and well-being of communities where it operates.
The representative noted that the company believes healthy communities are essential for sustainable development and that partnerships with healthcare providers and government institutions help improve access to quality healthcare while supporting preventive health initiatives with lasting impact.
Advancing sustainability through community investment
The Kwale medical camp is Bamburi Cement’s second community healthcare outreach programme in Kenya’s Coastal region, underscoring its ongoing commitment to creating shared value through community-focused investments.
The initiative forms part of the company’s broader sustainability agenda, which prioritises improving livelihoods, promoting health and safety, and building resilient communities through long-term social investments.
