President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in a high-level bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in energy and transport sectors.

During the meeting, the two leaders oversaw the signing of several strategic agreements between the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The agreements included a deal on the supply of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Georgia, as well as an agreement covering the supply of electricity to Georgia and the transit of electricity through Georgian territory.

The two countries also signed the protocol of the 41st meeting of the Coordination Council related to the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction of the railway section from Marabda to the Türkiye border at Kartsakhi.

The railway project forms part of the major “Baku–Tbilisi–Kars” railway corridor, which is designed to strengthen regional connectivity and trade between Asia and Europe.

The agreements are expected to deepen economic ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia while enhancing regional energy security and transport infrastructure in the South Caucasus region.
