Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) through its non-alcoholic cider brand Savanna 0.0 has sponsored the all-female Rhino Charge team, Zambarau Heels on Wheels, with KES 500,000 in support of environmental conservation and women empowerment in motorsport.

The sponsorship, unveiled during a cheque handover ceremony in Nairobi ahead of the annual Rhino Charge competition set for May 30, 2026, marks the third consecutive year of partnership between KWAL and the pioneering women’s team.

The annual off-road motorsport event raises funds for the conservation and restoration of Kenya’s critical water towers, including the Aberdare Ranges. Since its inception, Rhino Ark Charitable Trust through the Rhino Charge initiative has raised more than KES 2.4 billion towards environmental conservation projects.

Speaking during the event, Alice Mwalimo, Commercial Director at KWAL, said the sponsorship aligns with the company’s sustainability agenda and commitment to protecting ecosystems that serve as major water catchment areas.

“For the third year running, we are proud to support a cause that directly aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship. The Aberdare ecosystem is a national treasure and a vital water source for millions, including our own operations,” she said.

She added that supporting the Rhino Charge is an investment in both environmental sustainability and the future of the company’s operations.

The Zambarau Heels on Wheels team continues to make history as the first all-African women’s team to compete in the demanding Rhino Charge event, inspiring more women to participate in motorsport while advocating for conservation.

Lead driver Agnes Mwangi welcomed the continued support from KWAL and Savanna 0.0, saying the sponsorship would help the team prepare for the tough competition while advancing conservation efforts.

“This partnership empowers us to compete in this challenging event and contribute meaningfully to the conservation of Kenya’s water towers. KWAL’s commitment not only fuels our vehicle but also our passion for making a positive impact,” she said.

Savanna 0.0 forms part of KWAL’s growing cider portfolio alongside Savanna Dry and Savanna Angry Lemon. The company recently launched Savanna Dry cans into the Kenyan market earlier this month.

Savanna Brand Manager Mukami Miriti said the brand promotes a conscious and refreshing lifestyle while supporting initiatives that protect critical natural resources.

“We are happy to support a team that embodies such a bold and conscious spirit, while investing in a cause that protects the very water resources essential for crafting that crisp Savanna taste,” she said.

The sponsorship is expected to support the team’s participation in the Rhino Charge while boosting fundraising efforts for conservation projects spearheaded by Rhino Ark Charitable Trust.
