The gap between flagship and mid-range smartphones is shrinking as manufacturers bring advanced features once reserved for premium devices to more affordable models, giving consumers greater value without sacrificing performance.
Growing consumer demand for long-term value, reliable performance and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities is reshaping the smartphone market. Buyers are increasingly prioritising devices that support work, entertainment, content creation and everyday communication while remaining relevant through years of software updates.
Samsung says its new Galaxy A27 5G reflects this shift by integrating practical AI tools into daily use. Features such as Circle to Search with Google enable users to search multiple objects within an image, while Object Eraser removes unwanted elements from photos without requiring third-party editing applications. Voice Transcription also translates conversations as it generates transcripts, making meetings, lectures and interviews easier to document.
The device is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, designed to deliver smoother multitasking, faster app switching and improved graphics performance for activities including video streaming, mobile banking, gaming and social media.
Samsung has also enhanced the viewing experience with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and an Infinity-O design that offers a larger, more immersive screen for video, gaming, online learning and everyday browsing.
Long-term software support has become another key factor influencing purchasing decisions. The Galaxy A27 5G will receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, alongside six years of security updates. The device also incorporates Samsung Knox Vault to provide hardware-based protection for sensitive data.
Photography remains a major consideration for consumers, particularly content creators and small business owners. The smartphone features an upgraded 12MP front camera and AI-powered editing tools that simplify photo enhancement across different lighting conditions.
As competition intensifies in the mid-range smartphone segment, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on delivering AI capabilities, premium displays, enhanced security and extended software support at more accessible price points, making advanced mobile technology available to a broader range of consumers.
