Vivo Energy Kenya, Safaricom Partner to Offer Fuel Discounts and Boost Drivers’ Earnings

Vivo Energy Kenya, the distributor and marketer of Shell products, has partnered with Safaricom PLC to enhance the recently launched Bundle Ya Dere proposition, offering cab drivers exclusive fuel discounts and cashback rewards aimed at lowering their operational costs and increasing productivity.

Through the partnership, cab drivers subscribed to Bundle Ya Dere will enjoy a KES 2 per litre fuel discount every Saturday at all Shell service stations countrywide. The offer is part of a broader package that gives drivers free access to key work tools, including popular driver apps—Uber, Bolt, Little, Faras, and Yego—Google Maps, insurance, generous data bundles, and voice minutes.

Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali Kimathi, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to co-creating solutions that improve customer experiences and livelihoods.

“This dual deal with Vivo Energy Kenya will enhance customer value through subsidized operational costs and increased savings. In a mobile and on-demand world, this milestone brings together connectivity, convenience, and affordability, enabling drivers to focus on what they do best,” she said.
“We encourage drivers to fill up their tanks at Shell every Saturday to get the best value from this deal.”

Beyond connectivity and fuel savings, the initiative includes subsidized insurance to cover accidents, illness, or income loss, alongside training on financial literacy and road safety.

Safaricom has also rolled out Safire Connect empowerment forums that equip riders and drivers with skills on entrepreneurship, financial wellness, and digital and AI fluency.

Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director, Peter Murungi, welcomed the partnership, noting its alignment with the company’s commitment to delivering everyday value.

“Every day we serve millions of Kenyans across our retail network, and we are excited to join an initiative that delivers real value to taxi drivers. This collaboration enhances our customer experience, making every stop at Shell more rewarding,” he said.

The offer is also part of Safaricom’s 25th anniversary Shangwe celebrations, during which drivers will benefit from additional forums focused on financial wellness, health and safety, and the use of digital tools to grow their income.

Vivo Energy Kenya remains the leading oil marketing company in the country, with more than 340 Shell service stations, recently recognized as Kenya’s most accessible and preferred fuel brand.

Cab drivers can access Bundle Ya Dere by dialing 5446#, while boda boda riders can subscribe to Ofa Ya Boda via 5448#.
