Turbo Girls High School adopts LPG cooking solution with support from Equity Bank

Uasin Gishu, Kenya — Our Lady of Lourdes Turbo Girls High School is lighting the way in clean energy adoption after embracing LPG as a safer, healthier, and more efficient cooking solution, thanks to support from Equity Bank’s Eldoret Market Branch.

The initiative, aimed at promoting sustainable energy practices in learning institutions, has transformed the school’s kitchen operations—replacing traditional firewood stoves with modern LPG systems.

Speaking during the unveiling, school officials hailed the transition as a major milestone in promoting student welfare, environmental conservation, and academic efficiency.

“With LPG, we no longer have smoke-filled kitchens or delays in meal preparation. The girls now enjoy quick, clean meals and a safer cooking environment,” said the school’s administration.

The shift to LPG has not only cut down cooking time but has also helped improve indoor air quality, reducing health risks for kitchen staff and students involved in food preparation.

Equity Bank, through its Eldoret Market Branch, facilitated the transition as part of its broader commitment to clean energy and community empowerment.

“We are proud to support Turbo Girls High School in adopting cleaner energy. This is part of our vision to empower communities through sustainable solutions that protect health and the environment,” said a representative from Equity Bank.

Turbo Girls now stands as a beacon of sustainable innovation, inspiring other institutions to make the switch to LPG and other clean energy alternatives.

Equity Bank is encouraging schools, businesses, and households to explore clean energy options by visiting their nearest branch and learning how they too can benefit from cleaner, faster, and more efficient cooking.

The initiative aligns with Kenya’s national goal of increasing clean energy adoption across all sectors, especially in education.
