Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano Lauds Nairobi’s Top Global Tourism Ranking
Nairobi has clinched the prestigious title of the world’s best tourism destination according to TripAdvisor, earning accolades for its vibrant cultural scene, unique wildlife experiences, and dynamic urban charm. The announcement has been met with celebration across Kenya, with Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, commending the capital city’s recognition on the global stage.
CS Miano hailed the ranking as a proud moment for the country and a testament to the strength and diversity of Nairobi’s tourism offerings.
“This recognition by TripAdvisor affirms that Nairobi is not only the gateway to our world-famous safaris but also a world-class destination in its own right,” she said. “From the Nairobi National Park, where lions roam within view of city skyscrapers, to the bustling markets, rich heritage sites, and thriving art and culinary scenes — our capital has it all.”
TripAdvisor, the globally respected travel platform, ranked Nairobi at the top of its Travelers’ Choice Awards, praising the city for its rare blend of nature and urban life. It highlighted attractions such as the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and the Karen Blixen Museum, along with Nairobi’s growing reputation as a hub for eco-tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange.
Miano attributed the achievement to collaborative efforts between the national government, county authorities, private sector players, and local communities. She acknowledged the role of security enhancements, infrastructure upgrades, and targeted marketing campaigns in boosting Nairobi’s appeal.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife will continue to invest in infrastructure, support innovation in tourism services, and promote Kenya as a destination of choice,” Miano added. “We also remain committed to sustainable tourism that benefits both our people and the environment.”
Tour operators, hoteliers, and business owners across the city have welcomed the ranking, expressing optimism about increased international arrivals and economic growth.
As Kenya celebrates this milestone, the government is urging both local and international travelers to explore Nairobi and discover the magic that has made it a world leader in tourism.
