Once again, Tetra Pak East Africa is going to be the official hydration partner for the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon. This year it is set to take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The marathon is accredited as the only World Athletics Road Race Label event in Kenya.
The marathon, with over 30,000 runners including 200 elite athletes and international participants from 92 countries, is a great example of both athletic excellence and the spirit of the community.
For a contribution of Sh7 million worth of water packaged in a sustainable way, Tetra Pak is ensuring that runners have access to water which is both safe and in line with the company’s sustainability vision.
“This partnership isn’t just about keeping runners refreshed,” said Stella Ondimu, Head of Communications, Tetra Pak East Africa. “It’s about championing health, resilience, and sustainability in one of Africa’s most inspiring sporting arenas. We’re proud to hydrate participants while showing that eco-conscious choices can power world-class events.”
Founded in 2003, the Nairobi Marathon has grown into one of Africa’s most iconic road races, bringing together participants from 92 countries and supported by 43 sponsors.
Standard Chartered’s contribution of US$1 million, alongside KES 103 million in sponsorship support, highlights the scale of collaboration behind the event.
But Tetra Pak’s involvement goes far beyond sponsorship, with more than 10 employees from Tetra Pak East Africa registering for the race, embodying the company’s commitment to wellness and community engagement.
As a global leader in food processing and packaging solutions, Tetra Pak is using the marathon as a platform to reinforce its “Protect What’s Good” promise, not only protecting the health of runners through safe hydration, but also protecting the planet through packaging solutions designed with sustainability in mind.
With every water pack that will be handed out, Tetra Pak is demonstrating how innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand, fueling endurance while lowering environmental impact.
The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is about running, progress, resilience, and a sustainable future and Tetra Pak is proud to be powering hydration every step of the way.
