SGA Security Kenya has been recognised for its leadership in social sustainability after winning the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Champion Award at the Kenya ESG Awards.
The recognition highlights the company’s efforts to advance inclusive workplace practices within the private security industry, a sector historically dominated by men.
The Kenya ESG Awards celebrate organisations that embed Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into their operations in measurable and impactful ways.
SGA Security’s recognition was largely driven by its strong performance under the “Social” pillar, particularly initiatives aimed at breaking gender barriers and creating opportunities for women in the security sector.
The company has introduced policies designed to increase women’s participation while supporting their professional development and workplace safety.
“Our approach to inclusion goes beyond representation. We are focused on building systems and policies that support equity, safety, and long-term career growth for our workforce,” said Josephine Wanjiru.
She noted that the firm has implemented several measures to support female employees, including flexible work arrangements for working mothers, a zero-tolerance policy on harassment and discrimination, and structured leadership development programmes tailored for women.
According to the company, embedding these policies into its organisational culture has helped ensure inclusion is treated as a core business practice rather than a standalone initiative.
SGA Security says the approach demonstrates how intentional governance and inclusive policies can drive cultural change in traditionally male-dominated sectors.
The award places SGA Security among a growing group of companies championing responsible business practices in East Africa, as ESG principles continue to gain traction among corporates seeking to align business performance with social impact.
