Safaricom has strengthened its relationship with stakeholders in the Mt. Kenya region through a series of engagements as part of its Sambaza Furaha campaign. The initiative, aimed at spreading festive cheer and fostering connections, features activities including a road caravan, dealer meetings, and community-focused events.
In Meru, Safaricom hosted a gathering with over 50 dealers to celebrate their contributions and share insights on how their collaboration has supported the company’s mission to transform lives. During the event, Mary Karanja, a Safaricom dealer for 22 years, highlighted the company’s impact on her business and community. “Safaricom has transformed my life tremendously and has enabled me to create jobs for others,” she said.
James Muteti, Safaricom’s Mt. Kenya Regional Lead, acknowledged the critical role of dealers and other stakeholders. “As we continue to Sambaza Furaha, we recognize the critical role of our dealers. Today, we celebrate them, along with the journalists and business community from this region, spreading Christmas cheer and joy together,” Muteti said.
The caravan, which launched in the region on November 18, has traveled through major towns and markets, including Murang’a, Nyeri, Othaya, Karatina, and Nanyuki, delivering gifts such as goats, chickens, food hampers, and airtime. Today, it will pass through Gakoromone, Nkubu, Mitunguu, Tunyai, Kathwana, and Chuka, while tomorrow’s route includes Runyenjes, Embu, Kerugoya, Kagio, and Mwea.
In addition to celebrations, Safaricom is focusing on empowering communities. The company hosted the 5th edition of its Grow with Safaricom Business series in Nanyuki, where over 150 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) received insights on scaling their businesses using technology.
Further community initiatives include S-Hook workshops for youth at Thika Technical in Kiambu County and free medical camps at Rubate Technical Teachers College Grounds in Tharaka Nithi County.
Safaricom’s Sambaza Furaha campaign is part of its broader strategy to strengthen relationships with stakeholders, foster community well-being, and celebrate its 24 years of transforming lives through technology and innovation.
