1 Mins read

Kakamega, December 2, 2024 – The vibrant town of Kakamega came alive on Saturday as Safaricom hosted its third Safaricom Hook Circle Workshop, dubbed ‘Praktiklz,’ at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. The event, part of the ongoing Sambaza Furaha campaign, brought together over 4,000 young people from Kakamega and surrounding areas.

This initiative aims to empower and inspire the youth by offering mentorship and opportunities in fields such as music, dance, fashion, and online gaming.

“At Safaricom, we believe in the transformative power of opportunities. The Safaricom Hook Circle Praktiklz is about connecting with our youth, inspiring their creativity, and rewarding their passion, even as we continue to Sambaza Furaha to our customers across the country,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

The workshop provided a platform for young talent to interact with mentors and learn practical skills. Participants also competed in various challenges, with winners walking away with smartphones, airtime, and other exciting prizes.

Gloria William, a student and budding fashion designer, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity:

“I want to thank Safaricom for remembering the youth of Kakamega and giving us a platform to showcase our talents. I met mentors who not only inspired me but also provided practical advice on building a successful career in this field.

In addition to workshops, attendees participated in the ongoing gaming challenge, ‘Wai Ndai,’ part of the Safaricom Hook initiative. This competition runs until February 15, 2025, and offers participants across Kenya the chance to win daily cash vouchers totaling KES 500,000 and one of three Suzuki Altos.

To join, participants can sign up via the My Safaricom app, dial *555#, or visit Safaricom Hook. A daily fee of KES 10 grants access to the Challenges Arena.

Safaricom’s efforts to nurture talent and spread joy through Sambaza Furaha have resonated deeply with the youth, making initiatives like the Hook Circle a beacon of inspiration and opportunity.
