More than 500 students at Pwani University have been equipped with practical digital income skills following a content creation masterclass hosted by Safaricom in partnership with Sprite.
The “Hook’d on Fresh” masterclass, held in Kilifi on April 10, 2026, brought together leading digital creators and industry experts to guide students on how to tap into the growing creator economy.
The high-energy session featured live demonstrations and interactive discussions focused on building personal brands, leveraging social media platforms, and monetizing online content into sustainable income streams.
Students who attended the event described the training as transformative, noting that it provided practical insights into turning creativity into a viable source of income.
Many highlighted the importance of understanding digital tools and strategies that can help them earn independently while still in school.
Beyond content creation, the programme also emphasized financial literacy, equipping participants with knowledge on saving and investing earnings.
Representatives from Safaricom’s wealth management division introduced students to investment options such as the Ziidi Money Market Fund, encouraging long-term financial planning.
The session featured prominent Kenyan digital creators, including Tileh Pacbro, Rono, Juma Shibe, and Vallery, who shared practical tips on content trends and income generation in the digital space.
Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, said the initiative aims to empower young people by equipping them with the right tools and platforms to transform their passions into livelihoods.
The Pwani University edition builds on previous activations held at institutions such as Africa Nazarene University, University of Eldoret, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where hundreds of students have benefited from similar training.
The “Hook’d on Fresh” campaign is part of a broader effort by Safaricom and Sprite to empower Kenya’s youth by blending connectivity, digital skills, and financial literacy, key pillars in unlocking opportunities within the modern digital economy.
