The Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) will hold its 30th Annual International Conference from April 21 to April 24, 2026, at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa, bringing together over 300 governance professionals, policymakers, and business leaders.
The four-day event, officially opening on April 22, will be held under the theme “Resilient Governance for Thriving Economies,” with discussions expected to shape policy and institutional reforms across Kenya and beyond.
Focus on Governance, Financial Integrity and Public Trust
The conference will cover a wide range of thematic areas central to strengthening governance frameworks. Key discussions will include financial integrity and Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) frameworks, devolution as a driver of economic prosperity, and bank resolution mechanisms to enhance financial stability and depositor protection.
Other focus areas include restoring public trust in electoral institutions, ethical leadership, oversight and accountability in democratic governance, and the role of innovation and technology in modern governance systems.
Participants will also examine disability inclusion in line with the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, as well as public-private sector collaboration to spur economic growth.
High-Profile Speakers to Lead Discussions
The conference will feature prominent national leaders and governance experts. Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya will serve as Chief Guest on Day Two, where he will deliver a keynote address on financial integrity and AML/CFT frameworks.
Closing the conference on Day Four will be Cabinet Secretary Issa Timamy. Among other notable speakers expected: Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, who will speak on transforming devolution into prosperity, and George Gitonga Murugara, who will participate in discussions on electoral trust and accountability.
Electoral governance experts Ann Nderitu and Charles Kanjama will contribute to a panel on rebuilding public trust in electoral institutions.

Meanwhile, Ndindi Nyoro and Kiprono Kittony are expected to engage in a panel discussion exploring the intersection of governance, the economy, and business.

In a statement, ICS Chief Executive Officer FCS Jeremiah Karanja said the conference marks both a milestone and a renewed commitment to strengthening governance systems.
