Protesters on Edge After Unmarked Subaru Spotted on Outering Road in Nairobi

1 Mins read

Tensions escalated today after an unmarked Subaru was seen driving along Outering Road in Nairobi, causing concern among protesters. The vehicle, which lacked a license plate, has fueled fears of heightened security measures against demonstrations.

In response to the growing unrest, Acting Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, addressed the public, urging demonstrators to cease their planned protests, particularly those intended to block the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Speaking at a press conference, Kanja emphasized the importance of maintaining order, stating, “We understand the right to protest, but we cannot allow demonstrations to disrupt vital infrastructure and threaten the safety of our citizens. I urge all demonstrators to refrain from blocking JKIA and to halt protests across the country to avoid descending into anarchy.”

The call for calm comes amidst a planned blockade of JKIA by a group predominantly consisting of Gen Z activists, who have been vocal in their demands for various reforms. The sighting of the unmarked Subaru has only intensified their concerns about potential crackdowns on their activities.

Authorities have yet to confirm the ownership or purpose of the unmarked vehicle, but its presence has been enough to spark widespread anxiety among those involved in the protests.

As the situation develops, both protesters and law enforcement officials are urged to exercise restraint to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety and stability of the nation.
