President Ruto defends church donations, highlights his building legacy

1 Mins read

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting church construction, stating that he has been a builder since his early days as a Member of Parliament. Speaking during a Sunday service at Africa Inland Church (AIC) in Jericho, Nairobi, the Head of State dismissed critics opposed to publicizing church donations, maintaining that his contributions are part of his long-standing tradition of supporting religious institutions.

The President emphasized that alongside constructing churches, his administration remains committed to delivering key infrastructure projects, including affordable housing, roads, and classrooms. He also addressed the ongoing renovations at State House, framing them as part of his broader agenda to leave a lasting development legacy.

AIC Bishop Joshua Kimuyu defended Ruto’s church donations, stating that only God should judge those who give to religious causes. The President, in turn, reiterated his pledge to work with leaders from all political and religious backgrounds for the good of the nation.

His remarks come amid ongoing debates over the role of political leaders in funding religious institutions, with some questioning the transparency and sources of such donations. However, Ruto remained resolute, insisting that his contributions align with his vision of a well-built and spiritually empowered society.
