The National Liberal Party (NLP) of Kenya, led by Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, and leaders from various political parties have commended President William Samoei Ruto for his decisive actions in response to the demands of the Kenyan populace, particularly the vibrant GenZ population.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Nairobi, NLP Party Leader Dr. Augustus Muli hailed the dissolution of the cabinet as a long-overdue and significant step towards revitalizing and cleansing the government.

“We join the Kenyan citizens in demanding that the Principal Secretaries, who are the accounting officers, be relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” stated Dr. Muli. “They oversaw and okayed the plunder and mismanagement in their respective ministries.”

The leaders emphasized the importance of youth participation in the nation’s progress. “The energy, passion, and fresh perspectives of our young people are essential for the progress of our nation. As political leaders, we pledge to actively involve and empower the youth in decision-making processes, policy formulation, and governance. Their voices matter, and their contributions are invaluable”

The NLP and its allies expressed their condolences to the families and friends of the over 42 young people who lost their lives during recent demonstrations. Their sacrifice, the leaders noted, underscores the urgency of creating a safer, more just Kenya with responsive leadership.

In addition, the coalition demanded a public apology from President Ruto to all innocent and unarmed civilians who were tortured, butchered, and murdered by state agents. They called for the immediate release of young peaceful protesters still in police custody and an end to the abductions and murders of innocent civilians. Furthermore, they insisted that the government should cover the hospital bills of the injured and compensate the families of those maimed and deceased due to police actions. The leaders also demanded that the state agents responsible for these heinous acts be relieved of their duties and prosecuted.

“As members of various political parties, we urge all Party Principals to continue listening to the voices of our youth and the public. People have said that they are not interested in dialogue but in action,” said Dr. Muli.

In the same spirit, the coalition called for the IEBC Selection Panel, tasked with selecting the next IEBC commissioners, to be composed of individuals of integrity, chosen through a fair, competitive, and transparent process. This, they argued, would ensure an independent, incorruptible, and accountable commission answerable to the Kenyan people, not just a few political elites.

The leaders call for unity and action, stating, “Together, all of us can build a brighter future for Kenya.”
