Naivas Supermarket dismisses claims of selling expired products and branch closures

1 Mins read

Naivas Supermarket has come out strongly to refute widespread misinformation circulating on social media alleging the sale of expired products and closure of some of its Nairobi branches by health authorities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the retail giant reassured customers, partners, and the general public that all its stores remain fully operational and in full compliance with all regulatory standards.

The supermarket chain emphasized that no expired goods had been found on its shelves and that its internal quality control and stock management systems are designed to ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations.

“We are aware of the false claims circulating online regarding expired products and alleged branch closures. Naivas remains committed to the highest standards of quality and compliance,” read part of the statement.

The company dismissed the closure reports as entirely false and potentially damaging to its reputation and customer trust. It also confirmed that it is seeking legal advice on pursuing formal action against individuals or organizations responsible for spreading the misinformation.

Naivas further stated that it upholds a strict anti-bribery and corruption policy, asserting that it would not yield to extortion attempts disguised as regulatory action.

The retail chain called on the public to verify information through official channels and pledged to continue providing quality services and products across all its outlets.

The supermarket chain remains one of the largest and most trusted retailers in Kenya, with an extensive footprint across the country.
