Naivas Opens Newgate Square Store in Kamakis as Retail Expansion Continues

1 Mins read

Naivas Supermarkets has officially opened its new store at Newgate Square in Kamakis, Ruiru, marking another milestone in the retailer’s 36-year journey of serving Kenyan consumers and expanding its nationwide footprint.

The new outlet reinforces Naivas’ commitment to bringing its promise of Fresh, Quality, Choice and Bei Poa (Great Value) closer to communities as demand for modern retail services continues to grow in one of Kenya’s fastest-developing residential and commercial corridors.

The Kamakis store offers customers a wide range of products and services under one roof, including fresh produce, a butchery, bakery, delicatessen, ready-to-eat meals, groceries, household essentials, cookware, electrical appliances, clothing, health and beauty products, baby care, home care and lifestyle items.

Speaking during the launch, Naivas Chief Executive Officer Andreas von Paleske said the opening reflects the trust Kenyan families have placed in the retailer over the past three and a half decades.

“Opening this store during our 36th year is an important milestone in the Naivas journey. Every new Naivas store is more than another location; it is a promise to bring Fresh, Quality, Choice and Bei Poa closer to the communities we serve,” he said.

He noted that Kamakis has emerged as one of Kenya’s fastest-growing residential and commercial hubs, making it a strategic location for the retailer’s continued expansion.

The new outlet has been designed to serve a diverse customer base, including young professionals, families, entrepreneurs, students and commuters, while offering a convenient one-stop shopping experience.

Customers who prefer online shopping will also continue accessing Naivas products through the retailer’s digital shopping platform, which offers home and workplace delivery.

The opening ceremony was attended by Retrak Kenya CEO Wambui Mbarire and Kevian Kenya Group Director of Sales and Marketing Polycarp Igathe, alongside suppliers, partners and customers.

Beyond expanding retail access, Naivas said the new store will contribute to the local economy by creating employment opportunities and strengthening partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers. The retailer also acknowledged the developers of Newgate Square for investing in a modern shopping destination that is expected to serve residents, businesses and visitors in the area.

With more than 110 stores across the country, Naivas said it remains committed to growing alongside Kenyan communities by providing quality products, competitive prices and convenient shopping experiences.
