Kioni denies impeachment motion against Gachagua, ‘hicho ni kipindi cha Ruto’

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni addressing journalists at Jubilee house in Nairobi
Jubilee Party Secretary General Hon. Jeremiah Kioni vehemently denied rumors of an impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Kioni alleged that these speculations are part of a strategic move orchestrated by President William Ruto to sow division within the Mount Kenya region for political advantage.
Kioni emphasized that Ruto capitalized on the support of Mount Kenya constituents during his campaign, claiming that Gachagua and his team played a crucial role in intimidating former President Uhuru Kenyatta to facilitate Ruto’s electoral victory. “Now the same person who once relied on Gachagua is turning against him,” Kioni remarked, suggesting that Ruto’s actions are indicative of a larger scheme to manipulate political allegiances for his own benefit.
The Secretary General criticized the current government for diverting attention away from pressing national issues such as education and healthcare. “Impeachment is the least of our concerns,” Kioni stated, urging political leaders to prioritize the well-being of citizens over intra-party conflicts.
Kioni also spotlighted the recent abduction of three brothers, who were reportedly tortured and held incommunicado for 32 days, urging leaders to address such grave matters instead of engaging in political theatrics. He called on Kenyans to join the “Operation Okoa Kenya,” aimed at restoring integrity and accountability within the government.
During the conference, Kioni underscored the irony of Gachagua’s current predicament, stating, “Riggy G and his team were instrumental in making Ruto president, yet Ruto is now using others to fracture the Mount Kenya vote.” He asserted that this betrayal reflects a broader trend of political manipulation designed to undermine Gachagua’s influence.
Kioni also issued a strong admonition to Gachagua regarding his political focus, urging him to transcend regionalism and adopt a national perspective. “You are not just the Deputy President of one region; you are a leader for the entire country,” Kioni said. He encouraged Gachagua to engage with communities beyond Mount Kenya and to prioritize development over tribal politics.
In a pointed critique of the government, Kioni characterized the controversial Adani deal as a “staged scam” perpetrated by the state, questioning the integrity of President Ruto’s administration. “Dirty things have occurred in this country over the past two years. What will happen in three?” he asked, expressing deep skepticism about the current regime’s direction.
As political tensions rise, Kioni’s statements reflect a growing dissatisfaction within the Jubilee Party and signal potential challenges ahead for Ruto’s administration.
