Jambojet Resumes Nairobi–Entebbe Flights After Six-Year Hiatus

1 Mins read

Jambojet is set to resume flights between Nairobi and Entebbe, Uganda, after a six-year hiatus, with daily passenger and cargo services starting October 1, 2026.

The return to the Ugandan market is expected to strengthen connectivity between Kenya and Uganda while supporting regional business, tourism and cross-border trade.

Jambojet Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Karanja Ndegwa said the resumption forms part of the airline’s strategy to expand affordable air travel and strengthen regional integration.

“Our return to Uganda is a strategic step forward in our mission to strengthen regional connectivity,” Ndegwa said, adding that the airline sees opportunities to support business, tourism and trade between the two countries.

One-way fares on the route will start at approximately KSh22,950.

Beyond passenger services, Jambojet will offer cargo and parcel services, providing additional capacity for the movement of goods between Kenya and Uganda.

The Nairobi–Entebbe corridor is expected to carry approximately 300,000 passengers in 2026, highlighting the growing demand for regional air travel. Jambojet’s daily flights will also provide Ugandan travellers with onward connections to Kenya’s coastal destinations, including Mombasa, Diani, Malindi and Lamu.

Ahead of the launch, Jambojet, in partnership with the Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA), held a stakeholder breakfast at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The meeting brought together representatives from government, tourism, travel, trade, corporate organisations and the media to discuss opportunities arising from the restored connection.

TUGATA Vice Chairperson and Uganda Tourism Board Chairperson Pearl Hoareau Kakooza welcomed Jambojet’s return, saying the service comes at an opportune time as the region seeks to strengthen travel, trade and tourism links.

Jambojet first entered the Ugandan market in 2018 as part of its regional expansion. However, its regional operations were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting the airline to focus on strengthening its domestic network in Kenya.

The return to Entebbe comes as Jambojet continues to expand. In April 2026, the airline increased its active fleet to 11 aircraft and celebrated reaching 10 million passengers.

The carrier also recorded an 86.45% on-time performance in July 2026, positioning it among airlines with strong operational punctuality.

Jambojet said the resumption of the Nairobi–Entebbe route marks a new phase in its regional growth strategy and will provide travellers with more affordable and convenient options for moving across East Africa.
