Isuzu East Africa has hosted the fourth edition of the 2026 IEA-1 Grand Prix, a flagship national skills competition that brings together top-performing dealer teams to demonstrate excellence in vehicle sales, parts sales, service advisory and technical expertise.
The annual competition serves as the highest-level skills platform within the Isuzu dealer network, providing an opportunity for contestants from Kenya and regional dealerships to showcase their knowledge, innovation, diagnostic capabilities and customer service excellence.
Winners from the national finals will proceed to represent East Africa at the next stage of the international competition hosted by Isuzu Motors Japan.
Strengthening Automotive Skills Amid Industry Transformation
The competition comes at a time when the automotive sector is undergoing rapid technological change driven by advanced electronics, vehicle connectivity, and evolving diagnostic systems.
With customers increasingly demanding faster diagnostics, improved vehicle uptime and high-quality aftersales support, Isuzu East Africa says continuous training and skills development remain critical in maintaining industry standards.
The IEA-1 Grand Prix aims to ensure that dealer teams remain equipped with the technical knowledge required to deliver efficient and reliable services in an evolving automotive environment.
Building a Culture of Continuous Learning
Ahead of the main event, dealers participated in various preparatory competitions, including the “Road to Grand Prix” 2S dealer competitions held in February 2026, 1S dealer competitions and internal dealer contests organised by several 3S dealers, including TMD and Ryce East Africa.
These initiatives are designed to strengthen a culture of continuous learning, innovation and professional growth across Isuzu’s dealer network.
Isuzu Reaffirms Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
Speaking during the official opening of the event, Rita Kavashe, Chair of the Board and Managing Director of Isuzu East Africa, said the competition reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience through investment in dealer capabilities.
“The IEA-1 Grand Prix is more than a competition; it is a demonstration of the professionalism, discipline, and technical excellence that define the Isuzu brand,” said Kavashe.
She noted that as vehicle technologies continue to advance, Isuzu remains focused on equipping dealer teams with the skills needed to provide exceptional service experiences.
Kavashe added that the company will continue supporting dealer operations through technical training, availability of genuine spare parts and strong aftersales systems aimed at keeping customers’ businesses running efficiently.
Industry Partnerships Support Future-Ready Automotive Professionals
Geoffrey Kamau, National Dual Training Coordinator at the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Education, highlighted the importance of the competition in strengthening industry standards and developing skilled automotive professionals.
He said the event demonstrates the importance of continuous learning and adapting to emerging automotive technologies.
Meanwhile, CHRP Mohamed Bonaya, Deputy Head of HRM and Administration at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), praised Isuzu East Africa’s efforts in promoting skills development.
He said partnerships between the automotive industry and TVET institutions are essential in building practical technical skills aligned with changing market demands.
Preparing Dealers for Regional and Global Competition
Isuzu East Africa said the IEA-1 Grand Prix will remain an annual platform for strengthening dealer competitiveness and encouraging continuous improvement.
Dealers are encouraged to integrate skills competitions and training programmes into their yearly operations to enhance preparedness for regional and global automotive challenges.
