In a significant move aimed at tackling unethical practices in the insurance industry, the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has announced a strategic partnership with the Advocates Complaints Commission.
IRA Chief Executive Officer Godfrey Kiptum revealed that the collaboration is set to enhance the investigation and prosecution of complaints against advocates involved in insurance claims.
“This initiative comes in response to numerous reports of insurance clients in Kenya facing difficulties due to unscrupulous advocates exploiting their vulnerabilities during claims processing. Such practices have led to a growing concern about insurance fraud and malpractices, prompting the IRA to take decisive action” Kiptum said
Under this new partnership, the IRA and the Advocates Complaints Commission will work together to expedite the handling of complaints and ensure that justice is served.
The agreement includes sharing resources and expertise between the two bodies to ensure that complaints are managed by professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience.
Kiptum emphasized that this collaboration is designed to not only address current issues but also prevent future occurrences of unethical behavior within the insurance sector. By leveraging combined resources and expertise, the partnership aims to create a more transparent and fair process for insurance clients.
The IRA’s move underscores its commitment to maintaining integrity and trust in the insurance industry, ensuring that all stakeholders, particularly vulnerable clients, are protected from exploitation and malpractice.
