Galleria has officially soft-launched Phase Two of its expansion, marking a major milestone in its transformation from a traditional shopping mall into a modern lifestyle destination designed to meet the changing needs of Nairobi consumers.

The KSh2.2 billion expansion has introduced an expanded retail and lifestyle offering, enhanced customer experiences and additional entertainment facilities. The development features more than 49 outlets, 887 parking bays and an indoor-outdoor piazza designed to create a more vibrant environment for shoppers and visitors.

The expansion comes as consumer preferences continue to reshape Kenya’s retail industry, with shoppers increasingly seeking destinations that offer more than conventional buying and selling.

Speaking during the soft opening, Galleria Mall General Manager Bizzu Kanja said customers are increasingly looking for spaces that combine convenience, entertainment, social connection and quality time with family and friends.

“Increasingly, shoppers are seeking destinations that go beyond transactions, choosing spaces that offer convenience, connection, entertainment and opportunities to spend quality time with family and friends,” Kanja said.

She added that Galleria is responding to the changing retail landscape by creating an environment where customers can discover brands, enjoy meals, watch movies and participate in community experiences.

Anchored on the promise “Experience Different,” Phase Two seeks to redefine how customers interact with retail spaces by bringing shopping, dining, entertainment and community experiences together under one destination.

Among the new attractions are a modern cinema, bowling facilities, play areas and additional lifestyle offerings. The 49 new outlets will further expand Galleria’s retail proposition, giving customers more opportunities to shop, explore and spend time at the destination.

The development is also expected to benefit Galleria’s retail partners by creating an environment that encourages stronger customer engagement and increased dwell time. The expanded facilities are expected to provide tenants with greater opportunities to connect with both existing and new customers.

Galleria said Phase Two builds on its established three-floor open-plan concept while widening the range of experiences available to families, young professionals, shoppers and the wider community.

The expansion is part of Galleria’s broader ambition to strengthen its position as one of Nairobi’s leading lifestyle destinations, where customers can shop, dine, relax, connect and enjoy entertainment in one location.

As the mall continues to develop its destination offering, Galleria plans to introduce additional experiences, partnerships and community-focused initiatives aimed at bringing its “Experience Different” promise to life.

The expansion comes as Nairobi’s retail sector increasingly shifts towards experience-led destinations, with developers seeking to combine commercial spaces with entertainment, dining and social experiences to attract and retain customers.

With Phase Two now underway, Galleria is positioning its expanded offering to capture this shift while creating new opportunities for retailers, entertainment providers and other lifestyle businesses operating within the destination.
