Emirates Logistics expands into Kenya with major investment at Tatu City SEZ

1 Mins read

Emirates Logistics, a prominent player in the global supply chain and logistics sector, has officially announced its expansion into Kenya, unveiling plans to construct a cutting-edge logistics facility at Tatu City Special Economic Zone (SEZ), located just outside Nairobi.

The move marks a strategic entry into one of East Africa’s most dynamic trade corridors and further extends Emirates Logistics’ footprint across the region. The new facility will serve as a critical hub for the company’s clients operating across Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting growth and providing customized logistics solutions.

“We are proud to strengthen our presence in Kenya with our expansion to Tatu City, reinforcing Emirates Logistics’ global footprint of comprehensive logistics capabilities,” said Steven van der Vliet, Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Logistics. “This new strategic facility is part of our broader commitment to offering world-class infrastructure in key growth markets.”

Construction of the facility is expected to begin later this year. Emirates Logistics currently operates in 15 countries, including across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

The company boasts over two decades of experience, with owned warehousing, offices, and transport fleets across markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, South Africa, and India, among others.

Tatu City SEZ, developed by Rendeavour—Africa’s largest new city builder—is fast becoming a magnet for foreign direct investment in Kenya.

The city provides an infrastructure-ready environment tailored for global businesses, with integrated amenities such as housing, retail, schools, and parks.

“Tatu City warmly welcomes Emirates Logistics to its new home in Kenya, where it will thrive in a conducive business environment,” said George Kapanadze, Group CFO at Rendeavour. “We are proud to offer the infrastructure and services that global investors demand.”

Companies operating within Tatu City SEZ benefit from a range of business incentives, including a reduced corporate tax rate—10 percent for the first 10 years and 15 percent for the subsequent decade—alongside VAT zero-rating, and exemptions on import and stamp duties.

Tatu City, situated just 30 minutes from central Nairobi, is home to over 100 businesses and welcomes 25,000 people daily. It continues to attract leading local and international companies such as Heineken, Naivas, CCI Global, and Davis & Shirtliff.

This latest investment by Emirates Logistics highlights Kenya’s growing appeal as a logistics and trade hub, further cemented by Tatu City’s positioning as a next-generation destination for business and urban living
