The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Kenya Power employee and his alleged accomplice over claims of soliciting and receiving a bribe to reconnect electricity to a residential property.
In a statement, EACC said the arrest followed a complaint filed on May 28, 2026, by a resident whose electricity supply had reportedly been disconnected two days earlier.
According to investigators, Gerald Nyaoke, a technician attached to the Kenya Power Donholm Office, allegedly demanded KSh 30,000 from the complainant in exchange for restoring the power connection.
Following the complaint, EACC detectives launched an operation to monitor and document interactions between the complainant and the suspects. The operation culminated in the arrest of the two suspects shortly after the alleged exchange of the bribe.
The suspects were later escorted to the Integrity Centre for processing and further investigations.
EACC urged members of the public to continue reporting cases of bribery, extortion, and abuse of office.
