Co-operative Bank Rolls Out Nationwide Youth Financial Empowerment Programme

Co-operative Bank has rolled out a youth, focused financial empowerment programme across the country that is geared towards equipping young people with practical skills that will help them plan for their future and create sustainable wealth.

The programme, which is targeting students, young entrepreneurs and employees through free virtual sessions, is aimed at winning over young people’s hearts, and changing their negative attitudes towards financial literacy by equipping them with personal finance management skills and investment decision making knowledge.

The bank said the program will be around the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, and wealth creation, with an emphasis on developing good financial habits from an early age. In addition, the participants will be given a wealth of information about different options for wealth creation that are suitable for both the short, and long, term.

As a demonstration of its commitment to the programme, Co-operative Bank is providing its financial experts who will guide the participants on investment options such as money market instruments and equities. The different sessions have been planned to break down complicated financial jargon and make it easier for young people at various stages of their careers to understand.

The bank sees the initiative as consistent with its overall dedication to youth empowerment and financial inclusion. It emphasizes that having a well, thought, out financial plan is one of the main ways through which young people can get around the current economic difficulties and at the same time secure their financial future.

Using a virtual method, the financial institution intends to cover a large part of the country so that it will be possible for more young Kenyans to get equipped with the necessary abilities and have enough self, confidence to create lasting wealth and at the same time make wise financial decisions.
