Samuel Chege continued his strong run on the PGK Equator Tour after winning the sixth leg at Nakuru Golf Club, strengthening his grip on the tour’s Order of Merit.
The Safaricom-sponsored golfer carded 280 (-12) over four rounds to emerge top of a field of 49 professionals and secure his second title of the second edition of the tour.
Chege, who plays for Thika Sports Club, had earlier won the second leg at his home club. His latest victory lifts his Order of Merit tally to 3,852 points, keeping him at the top of the standings.
Chege Holds Off Experienced Rivals
Chege maintained his composure in a closely contested competition to finish ahead of seasoned professional Dismas Indiza, who returned a score of 286 (-6) for second place.
Mutahi Kibugu completed the podium after carding 287 (-5), giving Safaricom-sponsored golfers two spots among the top three finishers.
Isaiah Otuke finished fourth on 288 (-4), while Mohit Mediratta and Daniel Nduva shared fifth place on 289 (-3).
Edwin Mudanyi, John Lerjirma and David Wakhu tied for seventh on 291 (-1), with Eric Ooko rounding off the top ten on 293 (+1).
Nakuru Victory Fulfils Chege’s Ambition
For Chege, the win carried added significance after narrowly missing out on victory during his previous appearance at Nakuru Golf Club.
“It feels great to win here in Nakuru. The last time we played here, I finished second and was very close to winning,” said Chege.
He said he returned to the course determined to go one better and was pleased to see his efforts rewarded with victory.

Chege’s performance highlights the role of Safaricom’s sponsorship in supporting professional golfers in Kenya by providing them with opportunities to compete at a high level, sharpen their skills and pursue their sporting ambitions.
The PGK Equator Tour now moves to Sigona Golf Club for its seventh leg, with players set to battle for more Order of Merit points and qualification opportunities for the Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
