Quickmart Supermarket celebrated its 18th anniversary on Friday 23 2024, at a ceremony held at its Kilimani branch, commemorating nearly two decades of growth and achievement in Kenya’s retail sector.
The supermarket, which began with a single location in 2006, has expanded to 60 branches across 14 of Kenya’s 47 counties.
Jacques Dome, Deputy CEO of Quickmart, described the milestone as a significant achievement for local entrepreneurship. “This anniversary is a testament to our commitment to excellence, growth, and resilience in an ever-changing retail environment,” Dome said.

Quickmart’s expansion has been notable, with its 57 branches serving a wide customer base and a workforce of over 6,000 employees.
The supermarket has maintained its core values of convenience, affordability, and exceptional customer service while focusing on fresh, high-quality products. Quickmart’s unique selling points—its Fresh & Easy approach and Price Guarantee—have helped it distinguish itself in Kenya’s competitive retail market.
During the anniversary event, Wambui Mbarire, CEO of the Retail Traders Association of Kenya, praised Quickmart’s growth and its efforts towards sustainability. “The adaptation to circularity by Quickmart is a commendable step towards environmental sustainability and a positive contribution to the economy,” Mbarire stated.

The retail sector in Kenya has seen considerable expansion in recent years, with many new supermarkets opening. Quickmart’s success is a notable example of how local businesses can thrive by focusing on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Several notable figures also spoke at the event. Luck Ochieng, CEO of Unilever, expressed enthusiasm for continuing the partnership with Quickmart, highlighting their joint efforts since 2018 to promote sustainability and quality education through the Kilimo Shuleni initiative. “We appreciate Quickmart’s role in advancing these important causes,” Ochieng said.
Kimani Rugendo, CEO of Kenya Suppliers, urged industry players to embrace recycling and support environmental conservation. “In the commercial sector, we must advocate for continuous business operations and environmental responsibility,” Rugendo emphasized.

Rahab Ndegwa, Head of Corporate Banking at Family Bank, extended her gratitude to Quickmart, acknowledging their positive impact on the retail and financial sectors. “As Quickmart celebrates its 18th anniversary, we value their contribution and support for MSME lending,” Ndegwa remarked.
The anniversary celebration highlighted Quickmart’s achievements and its ongoing commitment to growth, sustainability, and community support, marking a significant milestone in its journey.
