A group of youth leaders under the Munyiri Africa Foundation has issued a strong appeal to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to maintain impartiality, transparency, and professionalism as Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking during a press briefing in Ruiru, the foundation’s patron, Bishop David Munyiri Thagana, echoed the youth’s concerns, emphasizing the crucial role IEBC plays in safeguarding democratic processes. He urged the commission to conduct its mandate objectively and free from political influence.
“We are calling on the IEBC to remain neutral and uphold the highest standards of integrity. The future of our democracy depends on public trust in the electoral process,” said Bishop Thagana.
The youth leaders stressed the importance of inclusive governance and electoral reforms, noting that the credibility of the next elections would hinge on how the commission handles its operations in the lead-up to 2027. Their statement comes at a time of growing public demand for accountability and transparency within key national institutions.
The Munyiri Africa Foundation, known for its advocacy on youth empowerment and civic engagement, reiterated its commitment to mobilizing young people across the country to actively participate in democratic processes and hold institutions accountable.
