Xbox Game Camp Africa Set for 2025 Return to Empower Game Developers

1 Mins read

Xbox has announced the return of Xbox Game Camp Africa for its third year, reaffirming commitment to empower and support game developers across the continent.

In partnership with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program (DAP), this year’s camp will bring together pre-selected professional game studios from across Africa for a 12-week structured program.

Participating teams will move from game ideation to building a working prototype or vertical slice, all while receiving guidance from mentors at Team Xbox.

Since its launch, Xbox Game Camp Africa has welcomed more than 1,900 new-to-industry game creators. One of these creators is Kenyan studio Kunta Content, whose debut game Hiru was born out of their experience from the first two Xbox Game Camps in Africa.

Their recent trailer offers a look at the game’s diverse environments and reflects the team’s passion, storytelling, and progress supported by Xbox mentorship.

“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO & Game Producer at Kunta Content, “and we are bringing the continent of Africa to life in a way that has never been seen before. This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp, allowing us to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert.”

The official kickoff of Xbox Game Camp Africa will arrive on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, in collaboration with Africa Games Week. To learn more about the program, and its history, please visit the Microsoft Game Dev Blog.
