In a continued effort to support menstrual health and education for young girls, Superior Homes Foundation, through Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge by Superior Homes Kenya, visited Thugunui Secondary School in Nakuru County this weekend. The initiative, part of the foundation’s wider corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to reduce absenteeism among girls by ensuring consistent access to sanitary pads while also providing mentorship programs that empower students to achieve academic success.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Mahinda Maina, Principal of Thugunui Secondary School, highlighted the significant impact of the program on the students.
“These donations have helped the school by reducing absenteeism among girls and have also assisted in ensuring the completion of their studies,” he stated.
As part of the initiative, the foundation donated over 200 packets of sanitary pads, ensuring support for the girls for the next three months. Additionally, students participated in interactive mentorship sessions focused on academic excellence, personal growth, and career development.
The lack of access to sanitary products remains a significant barrier to education for many young girls in Kenya, leading to missed school days and, in some cases, dropping out altogether. Recognizing this challenge, Superior Homes Foundation has taken an active role in bridging the gap through monthly restocking of menstrual health products in schools across the country.
Patrick Njoroge, General Manager of Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting local communities.
“As stakeholders, we are very keen on ensuring that we support and foster the prosperity of the members of this community. By donating feminine hygiene products to the schools in our community, we ensure that girls stay in school throughout the year and their dignity is maintained,” he noted.
Thugunui Secondary School is one of six schools supported by Superior Homes Foundation in the Elementaita region. Nationwide, the foundation has made remarkable strides in promoting menstrual health awareness, currently reaching 10,109 girls across 34 schools in Kenya. Through these sustained efforts, thousands of students can continue their education without disruptions caused by menstrual-related challenges.
Beyond providing hygiene products, Superior Homes Foundation runs mentorship programs to guide both boys and girls on academic, personal, and social development. These sessions serve as a platform for students to engage with professionals, gain valuable life skills, and receive guidance on career aspirations.
Superior Homes Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and menstrual health among schoolgirls across Kenya. Established as an extension of Superior Homes Kenya’s CSR initiatives, the foundation operates under the belief that no girl should miss school due to lack of menstrual hygiene products.
Through its sanitary pad donation drives and mentorship programs, the foundation is not only ensuring that girls remain in school but also empowering them to pursue their dreams with dignity and confidence.
As the foundation continues to expand its reach, it remains committed to strengthening partnerships and increasing its impact in underserved communities. By addressing menstrual health challenges, Superior Homes Foundation is breaking down barriers to education and helping young girls build a brighter future.
