Super Metro ban temporarily lifted as NTSA engages operators on road safety

The Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) has temporarily lifted the operational ban imposed on Super Metro Limited by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). This decision allows the fleet to resume operations immediately while ensuring compliance with transport laws and regulations.

In a statement, TLAB Chairman Adrian Kamotho confirmed the decision, offering a reprieve to the popular public service vehicle (PSV) Sacco that had been grounded since March 20 due to multiple violations of PSV regulations.

Meanwhile, NTSA convened a special road safety forum in Kabete, Kiambu County, bringing together Super Metro’s operators, including drivers and conductors. The engagement aimed to reinforce compliance with road safety measures and enhance discipline among PSV operators.

NTSA clarified that the suspension of Super Metro’s license was not an isolated case but part of a broader enforcement campaign affecting all PSV Saccos found in violation of transport regulations. The agency has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety and order in the public transport sector.

Super Metro, one of Nairobi’s most preferred PSV operators, is now expected to adhere strictly to transport laws as it resumes operations.
