Over 100 Prospective Students Attend Nairobi Forum
St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, recently hosted an in-person information session in Nairobi aimed at prospective medical students and their families.

The event took place on Friday, January 16, 2025, at Sankara Nairobi and attracted more than 100 participants, including students, parents, education agents and other stakeholders.

Insights Into Medical Training Pathways

The session provided detailed information on SGU’s medical education offerings, including the structure of its Doctor of Medicine (MD) programs. Attendees learned about the four-year MD program as well as the five- and six-year MD tracks designed for students from different educational backgrounds. SGU representatives also outlined available academic support systems and student services.

Student Experience Shared Live From Grenada

A highlight of the forum was a live virtual session with Jamil Moloo, a current SGU School of Medicine student, who joined via Zoom from Grenada. He shared first-hand insights into academic life, campus facilities and living conditions on the island while pursuing medical studies.

SGU Reaffirms Commitment to Kenyan Students

Speaking during the event, Anne-Grace Mbabazi, Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment, Africa at SGU, said the session aimed to guide Kenyan students aspiring to become doctors in the US or UK. She noted that Kenya remains a key part of SGU’s international community, with many doctors from the country having completed their training at the institution.

Alumni Reflect on Supportive Learning Environment

SGU alumna Dr. Brigid Midwa also shared her personal journey, describing the university as highly supportive both academically and emotionally. She said faculty members played a critical role in guiding students throughout their medical training.

Interactive Panel Engages Attendees

The event featured an interactive panel session that allowed participants to engage directly with SGU representatives. Panelists included a current SGU student, SGU alumni physicians Dr. Steve Mungai and Dr. Brigid Midwa, a parent representative Ms. Keizra Moloo, and other stakeholders.

Strengthening Regional Medical Education Links

With strong attendance from prospective students, parents, financial institution representatives and community leaders, the forum reinforced SGU’s commitment to supporting aspiring medical professionals in Kenya and across the region.
