Several people are feared dead in and others injured following a grisly accident involving an Ena Coach bus, a trailer, and several private vehicles along the Mai Mahiu–Narok Highway on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at around 11pm near Mai Mahiu, when a speeding trailer, reportedly with failed brakes, rammed into the Nairobi-bound Ena Coach bus heading to Kehancha in Migori County.
The force of the impact crushed the bus from behind before the trailer ploughed into multiple other vehicles on the busy road.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, with injured motorists and passengers ferried to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
Authorities say the exact number of fatalities is yet to be confirmed, but eyewitnesses described the crash as “chaotic and devastating.”
Police have launched investigations into the incident as rescue operations continue. The accident has once again raised concerns over road safety and mechanical compliance for heavy commercial vehicles on Kenyan highways.
