Isuzu East Africa (EA) welcomed the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, to its Nairobi plant for a high-level tour.

The visit culminated in the groundbreaking of a Ksh 3.1 billion state-of-the-art Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Lukenya, Machakos County.

Plant tour and engagement with leadership

Hon. Kinyanjui was received by Isuzu EA Chairperson and Managing Director, Ms. Rita Kavashe, alongside the company’s senior executives. The visit began with an in-depth briefing on Isuzu EA’s local assembly operations, followed by an interactive session with management and media members.

The Cabinet Secretary toured the plant, witnessing firsthand the company’s vehicle assembly processes.

He lauded Isuzu EA’s continued investment in local automotive manufacturing and its contribution to job creation and regional economic integration within the East African Community.

“I am encouraged by Isuzu EA’s commitment to local assembly and value addition, which directly supports our government’s efforts to grow the manufacturing sector,” said Hon. Kinyanjui.

Commitment to sustainability

The visit also featured a symbolic tree planting ceremony by Hon. Kinyanjui at Isuzu EA’s administrative headquarters. This act underscored the company’s dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Groundbreaking of the Lukenya parts distribution centre

The highlight of the day was the official groundbreaking of the new PDC along Mombasa Road in Lukenya. Accompanied by Ms. Kavashe, the Cabinet Secretary, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the start of construction.

Valued at Ksh 3.1 billion, the facility aims to improve the efficiency of genuine spare parts distribution to dealers, stockists, mechanics, and vehicle owners across the region.

“This new facility is a key milestone in our strategy to expand after-sales support and improve service delivery to our customers across Kenya and beyond,” said Ms. Kavashe.

Enhancing after-sales services

According to Isuzu EA, the PDC will address challenges caused by counterfeit parts and improper vehicle maintenance, which increase operational costs for businesses and individual owners.

“This centre will promote after-sales services by offering genuine parts, trained technicians, advanced tools, vehicle diagnostic equipment, and standardised servicing processes,” said Mr. Ndegwa.

Part of Isuzu EA’s medium-term plan 2026–2030

The PDC project is aligned with Isuzu EA’s five-year Medium Term Plan (2026–2030), which seeks to transform the company into a Commercial Mobility Solutions provider. The strategy focuses on offering holistic, smart, and connected transport ecosystems beyond traditional product sales.

The groundbreaking comes ahead of Isuzu EA’s 50th Anniversary in September 2025, celebrating five decades of reliability, performance, and strategic partnerships. The facility is expected to be completed by November 2026.
