Samsung Trains Young Kenyans in Mobile Photography and Content Creation

Samsung Electronics East Africa has launched a street photography experience in Nairobi aimed at equipping young photographers, videographers and digital creators with practical skills in mobile photography and content creation.

The initiative brought together aspiring creators for hands-on training and photography sessions in Nairobi’s Central Business District, where participants used Galaxy A27, A37 and A57 smartphones to create visual content.

Renowned mobile photographer Edwin Waweru trained participants on composition, lighting, framing and visual storytelling, while content creator and Iko Nini Podcast host Mwafreeka shared insights on building audiences, maintaining consistent content creation and turning digital creativity into career opportunities.

Participants also explored smartphone features including Nightography, Object Eraser and Optical Image Stabilization, which Samsung says support high-quality photography and smoother video production.

Brenda Nakhulo, Head of Marketing, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics East Africa, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to helping young people access skills and technology needed to participate in Kenya’s growing creator economy.

She said Samsung believes technology should not only connect people but also help young people turn their creativity into opportunities.

The Street Photography Challenge is part of Samsung’s wider efforts to promote digital skills, innovation and creative talent among young Kenyans, while demonstrating how accessible mobile technology can support content creation and entrepreneurship.
